Keep apps updated
SynckHub web updates continuously, but browsers and desktop clients can still hold stale state. Check client freshness before reporting a product issue.
Update the web app
If the web app looks stale after a release:
- Reload the page.
- If the issue remains, run a hard refresh.
- Sign out and sign back in if session-sensitive behavior still looks wrong.
- Clear browser cache only when a normal reload and hard refresh do not work.
Common hard refresh shortcuts:
| System | Shortcut |
|---|---|
| Windows or Linux | Ctrl + Shift + R |
| macOS | Command + Shift + R |
Update SynckHub Desktop
If you use Desktop for local file work:
- Check the installed Desktop version.
- Update to the release approved by your organization.
- Restart Desktop.
- Reopen SynckHub in the web app.
- Test one file edit, sync, or Save As workflow.
Do not diagnose desktop file behavior from the web app alone. Desktop has its own session and local state.
Update mobile apps
Use your organization’s approved mobile distribution path.
After updating:
- reopen the app
- confirm sign-in still works
- open the expected repository
- verify one normal read or response workflow
Stale-client symptoms
Check for stale client state when users report:
- one user sees a button and another does not
- Explorer and Search disagree after a recent release
- shared links open differently across browsers
- desktop edit sessions do not match web file state
- settings appear to save but do not affect the workspace
What to collect before escalating
Provide:
- user email or user id, if your support process allows it
- tenant and repository
- browser and version
- Desktop version, if relevant
- route URL
- item id or folder path
- timestamp of the failed action
- what changed after hard refresh or client restart
Screenshots help, but item IDs and timestamps are usually more useful.
Completion check
Your client setup is healthy when:
- web reload shows the expected current UI
- Desktop can complete the supported local workflow
- mobile can open the expected repository
- two users with the same permissions see the same behavior after refresh
